From Princeton, TX ~ Whats Healthy Food?
I know your not asking me the difference between a burger and a saladWink
When you go to the grocery store it is best to purchase from the outside perimeter. Everything in the middle is usually in some way not the best choice for you or just plain junk. Lets get picky with what is found on the perimeter of most stores…
DAIRY – Milk in General.
We all grew up thinking that we needed to drink milk to grow big and strong, drink milk for strong bones. What a load of crap that was…
Tell me why as a nation we drink more cows milk than any other country in the world and we also have more cases of osteoporosis than any other country in the world… There seems to be a disconnect. Our milk is not what we think it is because it has been flooded with antibiotics, chemicals and preservatives. If you gotta have it just go Organic. Trust me its worth it.
GREEK YOGURT – Not all, just some.
Greek yogurt has a bitter taste to it. Companies add flavors and sugar to make it taste as good as the non healthy yogurts. Just watch the sugar content. Ive seen some that have up to 30g per serving! Im pretty sure thats more than a King size Snickers. Find one thats less than 10.
FAT FREE / SUGAR FREE – What is in its place?
Thats really the scary question. Why do people think that because something is fat free that it wont make them fat? How do they remove it? And what on earth is in its place? I honestly dont know but I can find out if youd like. Some things are just meant to have fat and thats OK.
FROZEN MEALS – Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice
Ha. Ha. Ha. Yes, lets indulge in chicken and vegetables that was cooked 3 months ago, and packed with preservatives to hang out on the shelves for the next year. Dont get me wrong I know sometimes it just works and its convenient, just dont make a habit of it. Sodium levels on those foods are through the roof, they have to figure out a way to make it taste decent; sodium is also a preservative.
ENRICHED ANYTHING – Usually bread
Enriched means their was no nutrient to begin with so they added some stuff to make it look worth consumption. Its really not.
