I find it quite beautiful that Gods word is written in such a way that can be applied in various areas and situations of life. God is Omni-present, which means present in everything and everywhere at the same time, all the time. His word is written the same way. Often, myself included, we forget to come to God first with our requests.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6)
Why would our health be any different? We pray for healing, we pray for peace, we pray for joy from within; we may feel that God doesn’t care for such a small request like our ideal body weight but that’s not true. God cares about your ability to pursue the plan God has for you. Your health is part of that plan. If you’re ill, unhappy, insecure, it changes your ability to live fully in all God has planned for you. That is the reason for this article. Id like to see you be fueled with all you need to be successful and perhaps a simpler approach then following fitness videos. Health Afterall, starts from the inside out.
Shortly following the last scripture, we have one that says we must focus on the good. Body shaming, finding everything wrong with yourself is not the key to success nor happiness, contentment or gratitude. We are each our biggest critic; I don’t see that changing anytime soon but let’s approach it differently. Strive to find all the good things you love about yourself. Be thankful for the little things such as the ability to work towards your health goals.
Finally, brothers and sister, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. (Philippians 4:8)
As someone that loves to nerd out on the creation and structure of the human body and the mechanics of how everything works together to create movement, this one is one of my favorites! A scripture that speaks on the body of the church while using the example of our human body. We are reminded that each should be challenged to grow, change, and adapt in the best ways. Were also reminded that each works together, and that the parts(muscles) that don’t seem as important, really are. Our body is composed of so many muscles that in the fitness space don’t have the focus and importance upon them that they should, the rotator cuff for instance. Nobody ever stops to specifically work these muscles until absolutely necessary, however, how great the body would work together if you did from the get go. Use the body as it was designed and created to move and work.
Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand, “that does not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye.” Would that make it any less a part of the body? If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything? But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. How strange a body would be if it had only one part! Yes there are many parts, but only one body. The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.” In fact, some parts of the body that seem the weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen, while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all parts are glad. (1Corinthinans12:14-26)
Health is from the inside out. Physical activity is important, however, we’ve all heard the phrasing that you cant out exercise a poor diet. Diet is everything you consume; it doesn’t stop at food. What do you fuel your body with but also what do you fuel our mind with as well?
For physical training has some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. (1Timothy 4:8)
You’ve been created. YOU have been created. For a specific purpose and for a specific design. You’re not meant to be anybody else. Comparison is the killer of all happiness and inner joy. To look at another woman and wish you were more like her is cruel because you’re not her, you’re you. Be the best you!
